Mari joined CJC in August 2018 as Director of Policy and Advocacy. In this role, she helps coordinate CJC’s policy advocacy strategy, working to remove unfair barriers to employment and increase access to good jobs for marginalized Illinoisans. Prior to joining CJC, Mari worked at the East Bay Community Law Center in Berkeley, California, where she coordinated legal services and co-lead the Back on the Road CA coalition, which pushed California to become the first state to stop suspending driver’s licenses due to failure to pay a fine from a traffic ticket. Mari has her Masters in Public Affairs from Princeton University. She is driven by the idea that everyone, regardless of their job, should have access to safe housing, healthy food, high-quality healthcare, and exceptional education.
