Ellen has been with the Chicago Jobs Council for nine years as the Director of its Frontline Focus Training Institute. In this role, she provides professional development training and capacity building resources to workforce development professionals. In practice, this includes developing training curriculum, facilitating customized workshops, researching best practices, cultivating strategic partnerships, and engaging in resource generation. Ellen’s belief in the power of responsive, innovative, well-run programming has been honed through her previous experience in fundraising, working with individuals with disabilities, and developing supportive services for mothers in prison. She gets her commitment to public service from her dad, a music teacher, and her keen sense of organization from her mom, a banker.
Ellen’s first job was as a grocery bagger at the Iowa chain, Fareway.
