  • What is the Frontline Focus Training Institute or FFTI?

    FFTI offers professional development trainings to help workforce professionals (job developers, case managers, program directors, etc…) better meet the employment needs of disadvantaged job seekers, low-income workers and employers. We offer over 20 different trainings each year to build the knowledge and skills of workforce professionals and strengthen collaboration across the field. Since launching in 2004, FFTI has trained over 4,000 workforce professionals from 600 organizations.

  • Why should I attend a training, what are the benefits?

    All of FFTI’s trainings are extremely experiential and include opportunities to practice hands-on learning through case studies, roles plays and small group discussion. Each class offers an opportunity to expand your network, collaborate with like-minded professionals, build your skills and knowledge, increase your effectiveness and advance your career.

  • I’m not a job developer. Can I still take a class through FFTI?

    Yes, of course! You do not have to be a job developer to attend a training. In fact, we offer several trainings that benefit a variety of staff working in the human services field. Cultural Competency 101 and Conducting Quality Intake Assessments are just a few of our trainings that translate to other audiences.

  • Do I have to be a member of CJC to take a class at FFTI?

    No, you don’t have to be a member of CJC or even be affiliated with an organization to

    attend a class. There are perks to being a CJC member though, like saving 30% on each training.  If you’re interested in becoming a member, contact Cheryl Hester  at 312.252.0460×108 or cheryl@cjc.net.

  • Do you offer customized training?

    Yes, FFTI offers a variety of customized training options. We can train your staff on one of our existing curricula or develop something entirely new to fit your organizational needs.

  • Why should I pursue my FFTI certification?

    Through a comprehensive 50 hour curriculum, our Job Developer, Leadership, and Client Services track certifications cover the core competencies necessary to be effective in these roles. Additionally,  pursuing your certification saves you 20% off the total cost of training if you register for your classes all at one time.

  • How do I register?

    Registration is easy! Just visit our website, www.cjc.net/frontline-focus, and click on the class you wish to register for. You’ll then be directed to create an account and log in before registering.

  • How much will it cost me?

    Training costs can range from $60-$250 depending on your membership status and the length of the class.

  • My organization has a small budget. Do you offer scholarships?

    Yes, we do.  While FFTI’s trainings are already deeply subsidized, we do offer a limited  number of scholarships for each training on a case by case basis.  Requests for support must be emailed to Cheryl Hester at cheryl@cjc.net.

CJC History

Founded in 1981 with 18 members, CJC was originally established to track economic development funds earmarked for low-income Chicago residents. The young coalition monitored the city’s public brick-and-mortar funding and developed advocacy efforts to build into skills training to broaden access to jobs.
