Governor Rauner gave his budget address in Springfield today. In response to the address, Chicago Jobs Council Executive Director Carrie Thomas released the following statement.
Today in Springfield, Governor Rauner didn’t tell us anything new. For the eighth month, we have a broken state, and the only response is a broken record. He gave us a history lesson on the current crisis.(more…)

Lauren Sugerman from Chicago Women in Trades presented on the importance of providing women opportunities to enter male-dominated fields, many of which offer much higher pay. She shared with us the striking statistic that only 9% of women earn $50,000 or more, while 42% of men do.
