“Step Into Your Future” Career Exploration for Young Men: March 16

On March 16, 2017, a group of leaders from North Lawndale Employment Network, Youth Guidance, Chicago Center for Arts and Tech, OAI, Inc., and LeadersUp are co-hosting Step Into Your Future, a citywide career exploration event for young men of color ages 18-29. The vision is that these men, regardless of where they live in the city, should have the access, inspiration, and support needed to be successful in their career path. This event will help them discover new opportunities and possibilities. In October, CJC joined this group in New York with other Workforce Development leaders and experts on policy, business, and community organizing to learn and collaborate on the best ways to bring awareness to career opportunities for young men of color. Their goal is to create a meaningful, replicable model that addresses the real barriers facing young men of color, including those with felony backgrounds.

The Step Into Your Future event will take place at St. Sabina Church from 11AM-3PM on Thursday, March 16th and host 75 young men of color ages 18-29. The event will feature exciting speakers, a young entrepreneurs panel, career exploration activities, career breakout sessions, and a resource fair with career training and placement opportunities. Prizes, lunch, and snacks will be provided! Click on the flyer for more information or to register your job seekers.
